Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking Experience

Meeting and departure
At the meeting time, a driver from the service provider will arrive at your hotel or villa. Please wait at the hotel reception or at the villa entrance. Once all participants have gathered, the transfer will head to the base at the foot of Mount Batur. There, you’ll meet the rest of the group and your guide, who will give a short briefing and provide flashlights. You’ll be offered breakfast — a banana pancake, tea, and coffee — before being driven to the starting point of the hike. Depending on the conditions, the driver may take you directly to the start area or stop about 15–20 minutes away on foot.

Climbing Mount Batur
04:00 — the hike up Mount Batur begins. To make the climb to the 1717-meter summit more comfortable, several rest stops are planned along the way. You’ll reach the top by sunrise and enjoy an unforgettable view of the caldera and the mist-covered mountain lake. A light snack and water will be provided at the summit. You’ll have plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the sunrise before descending back to the starting point, where your driver will be waiting.

Return to the hotel
Once all participants have gathered, the transfer will take you back to your hotel or villa. Travel time depends on traffic and the distance to your accommodation.

We loved everything! We were met by a driver in Ubud, who was very positive and pleasant. We stopped for breakfast, then headed to the parking area from where everyone heads to the ascent point. Then we were met by our guide, a lovely lady, and we began our ascent. After we reached the top, an incredible view of the sunrise and clouds opened up 😍😍😍

We were lucky with the weather and had a great view from the volcano. The route is not difficult, accessible to everyone. We love hiking and such a trip is a joy for us. The downside is there are a lot of people, but it depends on your luck. Regarding the tour organization: everything was on time, the driver was excellent. Downsides: groups with different paces, we honestly waited a long time, especially on the way back after the descent. Also, we wanted to go back to the hotel immediately, but they took us to a coffee plantation. Everyone was hungry and tired, no one wanted to go there. I also want to note the 'breakfast', 3 pieces of dry white bread, and an egg. In my opinion, for this cost, they could have offered a better snack.

We were lucky with the weather, we could see the stars, and at dawn we saw Rinjani. We didn't like walking for 1.5 hours (in total) on the paved road through the gardens, cars were rushing (other guides take their travelers as high as possible), they honk, and we had to step aside, it was super uncomfortable, and the climb there was harder than on the volcano itself. Also, I didn't like that the website stated that breakfast was included, but when we received our drinks, it turned out that we had to pay 40k for them. Breakfast: 1 egg, which can't be peeled because they don't cool them after boiling, and two pieces of toast bread.
