Take a trip to the most impressive places on Earth, to the heaven and hell of our planet - the active volcanoes Ijen and Bromo on the island of Java!
It is here, on the Ijen volcano, that you will see incredible Martian landscapes, a turquoise sulfur lake shrouded in clouds of sulfur vapors, and blue lights glowing in the night. You will also meet locals who extract sulfur with hard work exactly the same as 1000 years ago, lifting heavy baskets with stones from the crater of the volcano itself.
You will go on a real Jeep Safari through the sandy desert with a view of the majestic Bromo volcano, and also meet the breathtaking sunrise on its top. Bromo is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. You will feel the lava bubbling and boiling under your feet, rising from the very center of the Earth.
In a 3-day tour, you will find a balance of vivid impressions and a comfortable stay. After a busy morning trekking and a long road, you will be able to relax and unwind in cozy hotels and homesteads.
Don't miss the opportunity to embark on the most unusual journey of your life!
08:00–12:00 — At the scheduled time, a driver from the service provider company will arrive at your hotel or villa. Please wait at the reception or near the entrance.
You will travel in a comfortable car through the western part of the island to the Gilimanuk ferry terminal. The road passes through Bali’s most scenic landscapes — beaches, rice fields, and the western national park.
12:00–13:00 — ferry crossing to the port of Banyuwangi in East Java. In Ketapang, there will be a lunch stop at a local restaurant before continuing the trip to the volcano Bromo area.
18:00 — you’ll arrive at village, check into the hotel, and rest after a long day.
03:00 — departure from the hotel by 4WD jeep to witness the sunrise at the foot of Mount Bromo.
04:00 — arrival at the Pananjakan viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Tengger caldera and volcano Bromo. Here you’ll watch the sunrise and capture unforgettable photos.
06:00 — drive across the "Sea of Sand", a vast volcanic plain offering incredible views of the valley. Then begin the trek to Bromo’s crater. After 240 steps, you’ll reach the edge of the active volcano and admire its crater and the Martian landscape surrounding it. After the walk, return to the hotel for breakfast and packing.
10:00 — departure to Madakaripura Waterfall. You’ll spend about two hours exploring the canyon and enjoying the cool mist and natural beauty of the area.
After visiting the waterfall, you will head to the hotel located at the foot of Mount Ijen. On the way, there will be a short stop for a medical check-up and to obtain a trekking permit for Mount Ijen. Then you’ll enjoy lunch at a cozy local café serving traditional Javanese cuisine.
18:00 — arrival at the hotel, check-in, and rest until midnight.
00:30 — departure from the hotel to the foot of the active Mount Ijen. Before the hike begins, you will be provided with all the necessary equipment — headlamps and respirator masks to ensure a comfortable and safe ascent.
02:00 — start of the trek. The ascent will take about 1.5-2 hours, depending on your physical fitness. At the crater, you’ll witness the famous “blue flames” — a rare natural phenomenon caused by burning sulfur gases. The crater also contains one of the largest sulfur deposits on Java.
At sunrise, you’ll reach an altitude of 2,386 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy the incredible view of the turquoise acid lake and mountain silhouettes in the morning mist.
06:00 — start descending from the volcano. The descent will take about 2 hours. After returning to the hotel, breakfast will be served and you’ll have time to pack.
10:30 — check-out from the hotel and departure to Bali.
17:00 — arrival time at your hotel or villa depends on the distance of the area and traffic conditions.
Accommodation for 3 people in this tour includes an extra bed in the room. If you prefer a separate room, the tour price will change (please check the additional cost with our manager).

According to official information as of December 13, 2023, due to the activity of Mount Bromo, the hike is allowed only up to the crater at a distance of 1 km or to the lower part of the stairs. The decision to climb higher is made by the guide on site depending on weather conditions.
Visiting the Ijen crater is allowed only within 500 meters from the sulfur source up to the red flag. Descent to the lake is prohibited for safety reasons.
The times in the program are approximate and may vary due to weather conditions.
MyBaliTrips.com is not responsible for weather conditions. Fog, rain, and low visibility are possible at the summits.
The temperature at the top of Bromo can drop to +7…+3 °C. We recommend bringing warm clothes: a jacket, hat, pants, sweater, and comfortable shoes.
After the Ijen volcano hike, you must return the mask and flashlight to the guide. In case of loss, damage, or failure to return, a fine of Rp 50,000 / item will be charged.
The hike is not recommended for people with respiratory diseases, heart conditions, or pregnant women.
We really enjoyed the tour. There was an excellent guide, reasonably priced hotels with beautiful surroundings and a good restaurant. The guide took into account all our wishes and showed us the best places for photos.
This seemed like a perfect tour. Yes, the road is long, but the way there was hardly noticeable, plus you're driven through beautiful streets where you can admire the beauty all the way. Our driver was also excellent, Bulldog (Ketut). The escort, Sigit, joined us in Java, and he's a very cool guide too. As for the program itself, we probably didn't have high expectations to avoid disappointment, but reality pleasantly surprised us. The sunrise at Bromo and all the surroundings are very beautiful. Even though it was a bit cloudy, it seemed like these clouds added more atmosphere and beauty. The view of the temples through the mist from the crater was also very impressive. I'm usually indifferent about waterfalls, but this one left a great impression too, and the power and energy of the water always invigorate. The views are beautiful, and the local escort takes great photos and videos. And finally, Ijen. I had already been to Ijen before separately, and I was impressed then; this time I went again with friends. And it was worth it because the first time we didn't descend to the fire, perhaps due to weather conditions or something like that, but this time we did descend, saw it, and were impressed. The lake is, yes, beautiful, but I already knew what to expect, so it wasn't as impressive as the first time, but just looking at the beauty is always pleasant. In general, the tour program was a solid 10/10 for me. A small downside was the long wait for the ferry on the way back, and the ferry itself drifted an extra half hour. Even though we were tired after such an intense program, we were again taken along a very beautiful road, so sleeping would have been a crime, and we enjoyed the views.

Everything was just wonderful. A rich and exciting program, punctuality, and the guide and driver are simply great professionals and people. It was very pleasant to get acquainted with the volcanoes in their company. Thank you very much!
I liked that the duties were separated - the guide and the driver were different people. While one worked, the other rested, and vice versa. Both spoke English. The guide spoke particularly well, not only was he a local (eastern Java, near Ijen), but he was also an enthusiast and nature researcher. We talked with him along the way, discussed everything, and learned a lot of new things. Maybe we were just lucky, or maybe all the professionals there are like that, I don't know. Everything was organized as stated, without any changes on the go, hidden traps, or other surprises. Overall, everything was client-oriented, and they constantly asked about our condition, our opinions, and wishes.
