New Year 2027 in Indonesia: two ready-made tours — 8 days in Bali or 7 days across Java's volcanoes

New Year 2027 in Indonesia can be celebrated with two ready-made travel programmes from MyBaliTrips: eight days in Bali from 24,500,000 IDR (about 1,370 USD) per person with five-star hotels, excursions and a festive banquet in Nusa Dua, or seven days in Java from 19,635,000 IDR (about 1,100 USD) per person with the Bromo and Ijen volcanoes, the Tumpak Sewu waterfall and a New Year party in Banyuwangi.

The Bali tour runs from 26 December 2026 to 2 January 2027. The New Year programme across Java is held only once: the journey begins on 28 December 2026 from Java or on 30 December from Bali – depending on the chosen route option. Flights and travel insurance are not included in the price.

At the end of December, Bali and Java are in high tourist season. Good hotels and villas are often booked as early as autumn, so a ready-made tour is a convenient option for a New Year holiday.

In this article we will compare two options for the New Year holidays. We will tell you what each programme includes, how the festive days will go, and help you decide which of the tours suits you best.

New Year in Bali: eight days with 5* hotels and a festive banquet

Ubud or the ocean? On the New Year tour in Bali you won't have to choose. You will spend the first half of the holiday among tropical greenery, waterfalls and temples, and before New Year you will move to the Nusa Dua coast. There a five-star hotel on the ocean shore with a festive banquet will be waiting for you. In eight days you will manage to see the key sights and to relax.

Your acquaintance with Bali begins at the Ayung Resort Ubud 5*, located in the valley of the Ayung River, surrounded by tropical forest. On excursion days you will visit the Tegallalang rice terraces and three well-known waterfalls of central Bali: Kanto Lampo, Tibumana and Tukad Cepung. You can learn more about Bali's waterfalls in our article.

One day is devoted to the eastern part of the island. Here you will find the Lempuyang temple with its famous gates and a view of the Agung volcano. During the trip you will visit the Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung water palaces, the Goa Lawah cave temple and Virgin Beach.

Between excursions you still have free days. You can stroll around the centre of Ubud, go for spa treatments or spend time at the hotel.

The next three nights will be spent at the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa 5* in the south of Bali. The area is suitable for a relaxed beach holiday: there are well-maintained beaches, restaurants and walking paths along the coast. On 31 December a gala New Year banquet will be held at the hotel. It is already included in the price, so there is no need to book a restaurant separately and look for where to celebrate New Year 2027 in Bali. And the first day of January can be spent by the ocean or at the spa.

This format is convenient for a first trip to Bali, a holiday for two or with the family. In a week you will get to know the island, celebrate New Year at a resort and have time to spend a few days at your own pace.

The cost of the eight-day tour per person starts from 24,500,000 IDR. Accommodation in 5* hotels, breakfasts, guided excursions, entrance tickets and the New Year banquet are already included in the price.

New Year in Java: volcanoes, waterfalls and welcoming 2027

For lovers of active holidays and those who have already got to know Bali, we offer a journey across Java. The trip includes six nights in four hotels, a boat trip, visits to volcanoes and a waterfall. You will visit the Bromo and Ijen volcanoes, see the huge Tumpak Sewu waterfall and celebrate New Year in Banyuwangi. There will be more transfers and walking routes here, but the impressions will last a long time.

The seven-day New Year tour across Java is held with two starting options: 28 December 2026 from Java or 30 December from Bali. There will be only one departure for New Year 2027.

In the first days a boat trip to the islands of Menjangan and Tabuhan is planned. Menjangan is known for its coral reefs, clear water and rich underwater world. While snorkelling you can see colourful tropical fish. And on the island itself deer can be found. Tabuhan is a small uninhabited island with white sand, where you can swim and relax on the beach.

On 31 December in Banyuwangi guests are awaited by a festive dinner, a party and fireworks. After New Year's night there is time set aside for rest, and then the most active part of the trip begins.

Ijen is one of the most unusual volcanoes in Indonesia. In its crater there is a huge turquoise acid lake, and on its slopes there are sulphur deposits. To reach the summit by sunrise, you will have to leave the hotel in the middle of the night. The ascent follows a mountain trail and takes approximately one and a half to two hours. On the way you may meet local workers who mine sulphur and carry heavy baskets along the volcano's slopes. After Ijen you will set off for the Tumpak Sewu waterfall, where dozens of powerful streams fall from a high cliff into a jungle-surrounded gorge. You can see it from the upper viewpoint or descend to the very foot. However, the second option will require good physical fitness: the path runs along steep and slippery trails.

The journey will end at the Bromo volcano. Here another early rise awaits you, in order to meet the sunrise over the Bromo caldera, descend to the Sea of Sand and climb to the edge of the crater. Be sure to take warm clothes: at night the temperature in the mountains can drop below +10 °C.

Such a journey has its own particularities. Besides the early starts, there are long transfers between hotels, and the weather on the volcanoes is not always predictable. It is especially important to assess your strength in advance for the trek on Ijen and the descent to Tumpak Sewu.

The cost of the tour per person starts from 19,635,000 IDR (about 1,100 USD). It includes accommodation with breakfasts, transport according to the programme, the services of an English-speaking guide, entrance tickets, the necessary equipment for Ijen and a jeep ride around Bromo. International flights and travel insurance are paid separately. You can find out more about the hotels, conditions and route on the page of the New Year tour across Java.

Weather in Bali and Java at the end of December

At the end of December it is the rainy season in Indonesia, but you definitely should not give up a New Year journey because of this. On the coast it is still warm, and heavy tropical downpours more often occur at night and are frequently followed by sunny weather. The main thing is to take into account the features of each route. In Bali in December the daytime temperature is usually around +28–31 °C. In Ubud it rains more often than on the southern coast, so it is better to take a raincoat on excursions. In Java, in the Banyuwangi area, it is also warm and humid, but on the volcanoes the conditions are quite different. At night on Bromo the temperature can drop below +10 °C, and on Ijen strong wind and fog are possible.

For the Bali tour, light clothing, a swimsuit and a raincoat will come in handy. For Java you should additionally take a warm jacket, long trousers and comfortable trekking shoes with non-slip soles.

How to book a New Year tour to Indonesia?

To book the New Year tour in Bali you need to pay a deposit of 50% of the cost. Under the payment terms it is non-refundable, and the remaining amount must be transferred no later than 14 days before the start of the trip.

For the journey across Java you need to choose a convenient departure point — from Bali or from Surabaya. Separate cancellation conditions for accommodation and transfers apply to this programme. The amount withheld on cancellation depends on the date of the request. 30 days or more before check-in, the cost of one night is withheld; 14–29 days before, 50% of the accommodation cost; later, the full amount for the hotels. A transfer can be cancelled free of charge more than seven days before the trip; less than 7 days before, 100% of the transfer cost is non-refundable.

It is better to plan the New Year holidays in advance: at the end of December Bali and Java are in high tourist season, and the number of places on holiday tours is limited. Therefore, before buying air tickets we advise checking the availability of the chosen programme.

If the New Year dates do not suit you, you can travel to the volcanoes at another time too. Set off on a four-day journey to Bromo and Ijen with a visit to the Tumpak Sewu waterfall.
