Broken Beach

Broken Beach is a natural bay on the western coast of Nusa Penida, formed by the collapse of a massive limestone cave roof. Visually, it appears as a perfectly steep-walled bowl connected to the ocean through a massive stone arch, through which turquoise waves continuously surge into the cove. The perimeter of the bay forms a natural bridge, allowing you to walk entirely around the site and witness the contrast between the calm water inside the ring and the powerful surf on the outside of the cliffs.
There is no access to the water here, and Broken Beach is visited exclusively as a viewpoint. Down in the clear waters of the bay, sea turtles and rays can often be spotted swimming in through the arch. The location is just a few minutes' walk from Angel’s Billabong, and they are usually visited together to see how the ocean has reshaped the coastline over thousands of years.
