Gili Air isn’t just about white sandy beaches, postcard-perfect views, and the laid-back island life. The waters around Gili Air are teeming with marine life. Here, you can encounter large sea turtles gliding peacefully near the shore, as well as over 3,500 different species of fish.
Snorkeling is a fantastic way to explore this underwater paradise without needing any special training or complicated equipment. You’ll be amazed by the vibrant colors of the ocean, discover submerged statues, and feel like a true Robinson Crusoe on these secluded paradise islands.
At the appointed time, a driver from the service provider company will pick you up and take you to Padang Bai port. Please wait for the car at the entrance to the villa or at the hotel reception.
At the port, you need to find the office of the boat company "Ostina" and check in for the trip. Keep the ticket throughout the journey, as you will need it to check in for the return trip.
09:30 — Departure of the boat from the port. The journey to Gili Air island by speedboat will take about 2.5 hours.
12:00 — Arrival at Gili Air island. You will be met by a snorkeling instructor holding a "Mybalitrips" sign and taken to the "Royal Regantris Karang Villa" hotel.
After checking in at the hotel, you will embark on a 4-hour snorkeling trip. You will visit two coral gardens in different parts of the Gili archipelago, where you will see many colorful fish. Then you will visit the famous underwater statues near Gili Meno and swim with large sea turtles.
The boat will make a stop at Gili Meno for lunch in a local restaurant. The cost of lunch is not included in the tour price.
In the evening, you will have free time to walk around the island. A feature of Gili Air is that it is a small island without traffic and large crowds. Here you can enjoy the silence and tranquility of true island life.
We recommend waking up early to watch the sunrise and have breakfast at the hotel.
11:30 — Check in for the return trip at the "Ostina" office.
Upon arrival at Padang Bai port, you need to approach the ticket office of the boat company, where they will tell you how to find the group transfer to your area. The arrival time at your hotel or villa depends on the distance and road conditions.
To check-in for the trip from Gili Air island to Bali, you need to go to the "Ostina" office and show your ticket 60 minutes before the boat's departure time.
12:30 — Boat departure.
Delays of boats are common on the return trip, so to make the waiting on the beach comfortable, you should have headwear and seek shade so that waiting in the heat does not tire you out.
Upon arrival at Padang Bai port, you need to go to the ticket office of the boat company (where you registered for the trip to Gili), and the staff of the boat company will tell you how to find the group transfer to your area. The transfer will take you to your hotel, villa, or meeting point.
Diving spots are selected at the instructor's discretion based on weather conditions and the participants' preparedness.
A government tax of 10,000 Rp/person is paid before boarding the boat to the Gili islands. At the pier before arriving at Gili and on the return trip before boarding the boat to Bali, a government tax of 20,000 Rp/person and 20,000 Rp/person is paid, respectively (a total tax of 40,000 Rp/person round trip). Taxes are not included in the ticket price and are paid separately.
"Ostina" company organizes group or individual transfers from the areas: Sanur, Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu, Jimbaran (McDonald's), Nusa Dua, Tanjung Benoa, Denpasar, Ubud (Central Ubud), and Padangbai; the cost of a group transfer is 50,000 Rp/person one way, and you can order a group or individual transfer through a manager.
The return transfer is more difficult to organize and can take about 4-5 hours. Travel time depends on road traffic, boat delays, and the distance of your hotel.
"Ostina" company does not guarantee a return transfer to the hotel, only to the central point of the area.
In case of bad weather in the Lombok Strait, for safety reasons, the boat company has the right to transfer you to a ferry for the crossing from the Gili islands to Bali or from Bali to Gili.
